We here at Windows8news.com are happy for every tidbit of official news we can get about Microsoft’s upcoming operating system Windows 8. Often, those updates are remarks or side notes in articles that deal with a complete different topic.
In this case, a recent article on news site Neowin about Microsoft’s tablet device Slate offered new information about Windows 8. Microsoft’s current problem is that Windows 7 is not overly optimized for tablet PC usage, at least not in a way that it can compete with Apple’s iPad on an eye to eye level.
To address this, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, mentioned that Microsoft “will be introducing some touch optimizations for Windows 7 with partners in the coming year”, but that the software giant will not “do a major revamp of Windows 7 for slate applications, that will come in the next version”.
The next version is obviously the Windows 8 operating system. There you have it: Windows 8 will offer a major touch revamp for Slate devices when it comes out.
