How much dumber can mankind get.

Have any of you been asked by a family member or anyone else to help set up some electronics? Like say hooking up the cable box, your VCR, or maybe a DVD player? Of course you have and so have I. I've never really gave it much thought, but I was sitting outside the other day and a thought occurred that literally blew my mind.

Do you realize that if i ask 10 people what the first thing they think of when I say, "child hood toy," 7 out of 10 would say, "that thing with the different shaped pegs where you put them through the hole."

That is basic of the basics right there. The "thing with the different shaped pegs". Do you mean to tell me that so many people in this world are dumber then a toddler? I mean look at it:

The round peg goes into round hole
The square peg goes into square hole
and the funny looking plug...goes into the funny looking ****ing hole.

Now look, I'm not tryng to be mean or anything, but how can something so basic be so confusing? What do you guys think? Have I completely looked way too far into this? Or is there seriously something wrong with this society?

I have had that asked so many times I almost killed them. Ummm..... Did I say that? Seriously though, we are the smartest of mankind:).

Heh... I always get the problem when people ask me to fix the TV for them when they've screwed it up. If the TV is on Channel 35, and our Cable TV runs into channel 36, and the cable TV isn't showing up... how do you fix the TV? Gee wasn't THAT hard... You press the UP button...

Oh and then they ask me to record a show for them because they cant figure it out. You put a tape in there, and press the big shiny LABELED record button...

I guess some people are just too lazy to do it. Setting up a computer is mega easy but the thought of something blowing up can be scary.

But realistically, plugging a mouse into the keyboard slot (or in the age of USB, this problem is gone all together) would hardly do anything, and the bloody things are color-coded for christ's sake.

Hooking up a motherboard and power supply, now there's something that can actually do damage.

Thats liek my main usage in the home is fixing or hooking up the electronics no matter how bloody simple it is even some of my friends dont know how to setup new tvs and vcrs and shit sometimes funny stuff

Well when anyone I MEAN ANYONE need anything to do with electronics done around my house they call ME. Pisses me off. Like the dvd player its all set up and everything all they gotta do is switch the cord that goes to the tv. same for the vcr. I duno maybe old people are freaking dumb. O well. PeAcE

Yes they are and I know this cause I am lazy (and short-tempered) and I can think of nothing worse then spending a day fixing my piece of crap computer so when it stuffs up I get my brother to fix it. But always remember if you're nice and buy them a bottle of scotch or something they will be more than happy to fix it again next time as well.

I work for a nonprofit as there comp tech and system admin. The number of people that come in and buy machines from us and bring them back a few weeks later is unbelieveable. As part of the sales pitch i remind them to "Protect " there computer. How they say? I answer put a friggin antivirus/security suit on. And like clockwork they bring it back 2 weeks later. Wanna guess whats wrong with there pc????? LOL yea i agree people are just to damn lazy to do or learn anything they dont want to.
